Travelling experiencing new cultures

Travelling changed my cultural perspective. All my life I can remember travelling which is something I will cherish and thank my parents for doing. Taking my siblings and I to travel has allowed us to experience many different cultures. From state to state the cultures I have been exposed to have been very eye-opening. Travelling also has allowed me to immerse myself into these cultures for example when I went to China, I was able to go to school for a week. In the mornings calisthenics occurred with the whole school, then we would be released to class which we would be in for the majority of the morning. During those classes, we would have mind breaks, where we would play games, do exercises, go on mini adventures etc. Being in school in China was very different than school in Canada, as the education system does not look the same, the teaching methods and the expectations were different which allowed me to get a contrasting perspective on how culture shapes education. I was also able to visit a school in poorer countries for example when I travelled to Jamaica when I was 10. In this school particularly that I visited, there were no windows or doors which meant that when it rained students would get wet, the desks were very old and made of wood, children didn’t have shoes, and in the school, there were two classrooms which were divided by a sliding wood slat. There was one teacher for “elementary” and one for “middle and high,” this is an experience I will never forget as it was so different to see how lower economic cultures adapted to having very limited resources.  This past May my family was in Spain and towns would shut down and students would go home for a siesta in the middle of the day. Then would go back to school/work for the rest of the day which was also a culture shock as this was not something I knew when I got there. That’s it for today, see how culture has affected your travelling.
